As an expert in the field of constitutions, Sujit Choudhry has said that liberal democratic constitutionalism is facing a massive crisis the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the end of World War II. He has said that the whole idea of American exceptionalism is a myth which has been completely punctured in the international community. He has added that America, like all nations, needs to look at other nations in order to determine what works and what doesn’t. Instead, America is quite insular and doesn’t look outside of itself very often to learn from the examples of other nations.

Sujit Choudhry has taught comparative constitutional law at a number of prestigious universities for many years. His first professor position occurred in 1999 at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Eventually, he was tenured by this institution.
