Sujit Choudhry’s Contributions to Various Departments

Professor Sujit Choudhry joined highly acknowledged experts in Kiev to talk about the semi-presidential structure of government that is implemented in Ukraine and the challenges it is facing based on the constitution. The meeting was held by an intergovernmental corporation that supports the sustenance of democracy on a worldwide level. It is the greatest think tank in Ukraine, the International IDEA, and also the Center of Legal and Policy Reform. Mr. Sujit Choudhry stated that some of the factors that have facilitated the democratization of Ukraine for the recently past two decades are the electoral system for the legislature, concentration of power in the presidency, separation of power between the President and Prime Minister, and also the presence of political parties that are weak.

Several leaders attended the workshop, some of them including Member of the Constitutional Commission of Ukraine, Sergyi Holovatyi, Former advisor of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Koliushko, representative of the UN Human Rights Organization of Ukraine, Vladimir Vasilenko, and the representative of president in 1996s Supreme Council, Viktor Musiaka, among others.

Based on, at the University of California, Sujit Choudhry serves as the I. Michael Heyman Professor of Law. Previously, he worked at New York University as the Law Professor. In addition to that, he was based at the University of Toronto as the Chair. He is internationally identified for constitutional politics and law, and advises a couple of nations on building processes of the constitution.
